“The Boat” was designed by James Braid, one of golf’s famed Great Triumvirate (with Harry Vardon and J.H.Taylor). He was also a grand-master of golf course architecture and his course at Boat of Garten features 18 individual holes winding their way through birch trees, heather and whins. He has maximised the natural landscape and produced a beautiful and challenging course which sets a formidable challenge which only the most accurate golfer will match, but offers boundless pleasure for all standards.

Boat of Garten regularly features in listings of the best courses in Scotland and is always wonderfully presented. It is renowned as a demanding test of sporting skill and recently dubbed “the Gleneagles of the North”. The Boat has become firmly established as a “must” for golfers, whether enjoying a golfing tour or just playing one or two rounds in the Highlands.

Recent awards include: Best Course Under £50 (Scottish Golf Tourism Awards); #4 in Britain’s Best 100 Courses Under £50 (National Club Golfer); #34 in Britain’s Best 100 Courses Under £100 (National Club Golfer).
