Durness Golf Club is now over 20 years old so is well established but still continues to mature and improve year on year.

It is the most northerly 9 hole golf course on mainland Britain so is remote but guarantees a peaceful round of golf in stunning surroundings. Each of the 9 holes has its own unique character and a second set of tees gives holes 10 to 18 a different challenge (Length 5555 yards, holes 9, Par 70).

The first 4 holes play out into the prevailing southwest wind with views towards Foinaven and Cape Wrath. Change direction for the captivating 5th. hole, and then we come to the Par 5 sixth which wouldn’t look out of place on an American course with all its water hazards. A tricky but stunning par 3 follows, while the 8th hole offers a brilliant view along Balnakeil Bay to Faraidh Head and a stiff test of accurate golf into the bargain. The final hole is probably the most talked about and certainly the most photographed. The fairway is the Atlantic Ocean ! A par 3 here is a welcome boost.

Yes a trip to Durness is a test for all levels of golfer and well worth the effort.
