Scotland the home of golf. As Turnberry is to Ayrshire and Gleneagles is to Perthshire, Castle Stuart has been conceived to be for the Highlands a beacon reaching out to golfers throughout the world. The centrepiece for this destination golf resort will be Castle Stuart Golf Links, a championship links course overlooking the Moray Firth and well-known landmarks that are synonymous with Inverness and the Black Isle - Kessock bridge and Chanonry Lighthouse perhaps the most notable.
Castle Stuart Golf Links is scheduled to open in July 2009. Situated 6 miles East of Inverness and only 5 minutes from Inverness airport.
Designed by Mark Parsinen and Gil Hanse wide fairways afford multiple lines of play, large green complexes characterised by simple yet dominating shapes with run of the ball always a consideration.Undulating terrain and angles of play key elements of course defence. A thinking man's golf experience with player length not an unmitigated advantage.
The topographay of the site steps back from the sea up and over an old sea cliff, creating a step to an uppler level sloped in it's own right from East (40m) to West (20m). Because of this tiered aspect, the Moray Firth and well-known landmarks figure prominently on every hole at Castle Stuart Golf Links. For 15 holes, the sea is directly in the golfer's line of play and the remaining three holes offer vistas of the Firth and prominent landmarks - although not directly in line of play.
