New Highland Flights from Germany
Lufthansa airlines will be running a Saturday only service from Inverness Airport to Dusseldorf in Germany from 20th June to 12th September, for a trial period. The flights which will start from £90 return(inclusive of airport tax, sandwich and a drink) will have 70 seats with business and economy services.
Lufthansa’s general manager for the UK and Ireland, said the Highlands would be particularly popular with German tourists who enjoy hiking and golf.
Sue McCulloch, representing HLNM and Golf Highland at the press conference on 28th October, and has been instrumental in the co-ordination of collective support from Highland tourism groups, said "This is tremendous news for the Highlands – offering a welcome opportunity to increase levels of business for our membership from this key market. Traditionally, German leisure visitors have arrived and departed from Edinburgh, visiting the Highlands for a short time as part of their trip. This direct link puts us in a strong position to substantially alter that trend. We will continue to work collaboratively with partners throughout the area in creating awareness of the Highland product in order to achieve this and contribute to the success of this route.”
