About CABOT Highlands Castle Stuart Course

Located in Inverness, surrounded by the breathtaking Scottish Highlands, this celebrated property is woven into the fabric of the region’s rich golf history.

It’s a surprisingly accessible venue, being only 5 minutes from Inverness Airport.

This stunning championship course opened in 2009 but already has a remarkable history, hosting some of the world’s leading golfers in the European Tour’s Scottish Open on four occasions, namely from 2011 to 2013 and then again in 2016.

Most recently in June 2022 Cabot, the developer and operator of master-planned golf resort communities, announced the acquisition of Castle Stuart Golf. Cabot Highlands is looking forward to the development of another 18-hole golf course designed by top architect Tom Doak as well as luxury accommodations.

Previously known as Castle Stuart, the newly acquired Cabot property is home to the renowned 18-hole Castle Stuart Golf Links, designed by Mark Parsinen and Gil Hanse.

The course is regarded as a model for modern golf architecture, being fun, engaging and playable for every-day players of all abilities, but also a challenge for the very best.

Featuring a rugged natural landscape hugging the shoreline of the storied Moray Firth, this is a property worthy of Scotland’s ‘Home of Golf’ prestige.

At Castle Stuart, nature bequeathed an opportunity for a links golf course to enjoy a rich landscape texture of whins, gorse and broom, heather and marram – a landscape mosaic of rugged beauty. It is a true links experience with rumpled fairways, offering changes in lie and stance; partially revetted, natural bunkers and infinity edge greens that allow the scenery and key landmarks to be put on display.

It also features a practice range, large putting green overlooking the Moray Firth, an Art Deco inspired clubhouse and the historic 17th century castle after which the golf course was named.

While Castle Stuart Golf Links will remain unchanged, the property will expand with the build of a second golf course designed by the acclaimed architect Tom Doak, scheduled to open in 2025.
