About Newtonmore Golf Club

Hidden gem is an overused term, but Newtonmore is the most deserving we’ve ever visited.

The layout is superb, clever use of the landscape creates 18 character holes. There isn’t a hole that stands out, because they all stand out.

Frequent changes in the direction of play ensures that the wind comes at you from all directions during the round and the 360 degree views of the mountains make it an amazing visual experience.

Greens were in fine condition for early April and it was easy to see that they will be wonderful once we’re fully into the season’

The club was formed in 1893.The James Braid design modifications to the original layout put it on the Braid circuit. The course measures 6031yds par 70 with Tee options to ensure a challenge for all golfers. The easy walking fairways along the Spey Valley  are surrounded  by magnificent views of the Grampian and Monadliadh Mountains with the River Spey bounding the 10th hole . The rough and surrounding country host a colourful array of wild flowers( including orchids),bird and wild life

As a golfing destination in it’s own right Newtonmore is an ideal place to stay while exploring the other golf courses in Badenoch and Strathspey. Or as a stopping off point (just off the A9) on the way to the Northern linksland gems including Dornoch, Castle Stuart, Brora  and Nairn.

The subtle greens and fairways are beautifully manicured and will prove a true test for golfers of all standards and after a game, the bar and catering facilities will replenish your reserves, ready to have a second round to sample all of the sights again.

The Club hosts several Open Competitions through the year including our Golf Week, now in its sixth decade, which takes place in the first week of August with lots of Competitions and Fun Events for all ages and abilities.

The Club also welcomes visiting parties and offers favourable packages for green fees, catering  and local hotel stays which can be  tailored to suit requirements.
